Is This Investing Thing a Scam? How to Check

Checkable. Real brokerages and advisers in the US are registered, and the regulators keep free public lookups. The scam pattern is also consistent: a stranger or group chat recruits you, returns look too smooth, and 'withdrawing' suddenly needs fees. A real account never works like that.

The machinery, honestly

Look the firm up in the official regulator tools (FINRA BrokerCheck and the SEC's investor.gov checkers). If it is not there, your money does not go there. Those are the only links this page endorses — official sources, on purpose.
Promised returns, pressure to move fast, and recruitment through messaging apps are the three loudest tells. Legitimate firms are boring about all three.
Never invest through a link a stranger sent you. Type the firm's name yourself, verify it, then decide.
Crypto-doubling schemes, 'mentors' selling signals, and pig-butchering group chats are the trading world's problem — this beginner door never leads there.
